Laura Jane Cook, 84, of Lubbock died Wednesday, July 26 at 1:10 p.m. after a lengthy illness.
Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Cherry of Quail, where the family lived for many years. She was born in Tennessee and reared in the Quail area.
She married James C. Cook November 13, 1921 in Wellington. She moved to Lubbock in 1962. She was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband, four sons, Louis V. Cook, Libertyville, Illinois; James Deward Cook, Westlaco; Loyd F. Cook, Fort Worth and Gene W. Cook, Lubbock; 2 daughters, Zada Barnhill of Daphne, Alabama and Vada Wauer, Lubbock;
3 brothers, John Cherry, Big Spring; Tom Cherry, Lubbock; Bill Cherry, Redondo Beach, California; three sisters, Lois Murry, Amarillo and Ethel Pace and Pauline Smith of Lubbock; 32 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren.
