Mrs. John Bernard
Mary Elizabeth Masten, widow of the late John Bernard, died at her home in Gardiner on Friday, October 11th, after a lingering illness, aged seventy-eight years.
She is survived by nine children, four boys and five girls; Abram, Grace and Emma at home; Lizzie, wife of Charles E. Wells of Gardiner; Flora, wife of Gilbert T. Benjamin of East Jewett; Annie, wife of George Winne of Palenville; William of Gardiner; Floyd of Briarcliff, and John of Binghamton. Two sisters, one brother, nineteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grand children also survive her.
The bearers were Myron and Floyd Wells, Gould Bernard, Timothy and Irving Benjamin and Virgil Winne, all grandsons of the deceased.
Funeral services were held at the Gardiner Reformed church on Monday at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. Victor Simons officiating.
Interment was at New Paltz Rural cemetery.
