Anton Schad Dies Near School Hill
Anton Schad, a life-long resident of the town of Schleswig, passed away at this home two miles west of School Hill at 5:30 Wednesday morning as a result of cancer. He was the son of Anton Schad, well known auctioneer of this vicinity many years ago.
Mr. Schad was born September 5, 1859 in Schleswig on the same farm on which he died. On January 17, 1882 he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Stein of Meeme. Seven children were born to this union. They are Peter, Alois, Joseph, and Mrs. Joseph Scharenbroch of School Hill: Mrs. Peter Knier and Ambrose Knier of St. Nazianz; and Mrs. John Scharenbroch of Alverno.
Besides his wife and children the deceased also leaves to mourn one sister, Mrs. Peter Fox, of Idaho, and thirty-seven grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. - 1929
