Dorothy Anna (Schemmer) Fairfield, 90, of Sandusky, passed away Oct. 9, 2012, in The Commons at Providence.

She was born Dec. 26, 1921, in Sandusky, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Rettinger) Schemmer.

Dorothy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society, and the Knights of Columbus Bowling League. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mrs. Fairfield is survived by her three daughters, Mary Ann (Jeffrey) Davie and Linda Jean (James) Herzog, of Sandusky, and Karen Sue (David) Albury, of Westerville, Ohio; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a sister, Alberta Higgins, of Cincinnati; and brother, John (Elsie) Schemmer, of Sandusky.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne C. Fairfield, in 2007, whom she married May 29, 1948; her parents; and four brothers, Charles, Edward, Bernard and William Schemmer.

Friends will be received 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday Oct. 29, at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Jason Kahle will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to St. Mary Central Catholic High School, 410 W. Jefferson St., Sandusky OH 44870; Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky OH 44870, or the donor's charity of choice.
