Mrs. Simon Anderson
Mrs. Simon Anderson, an aged resident of Rock county, died Sunday morning at 4:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ole Hoiland, in Magnolia township. Death was due to pneumonia, which followed an attack of la rippe that developed Tuesday of last week. The funeral was held Wednesday at 1 o'clock from the Hoiland home, and at 2 o'clock from the Lutheran Synod church in this city, Rev.Theo. Rodsater, of Hills, officiating, and interment was made in the Synod cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson was born in April, 1840, at Christiansand, Norway, here she was reared to womanhood and where she was joined in marriage to Tobias Torkelson in 1856. Two children were born to this union, one of whom, Mrs. Guri Jensen, of Luverne township, survives. Mr. Torkelson passed away in 1861.
On June 29th, 1864, Mrs. Torkelson was married to Mr. Simon Anderson at Christiansand, and to this union were born seven children, five of whom survive. There are Andrew H., of Luverne township; Tobias S., of Magnolia township; Andrew S. of Beaver Creek, Mrs. Lena Blinsmon, of Kanaranzi, and Mrs. Hoiland, of Magnolia.
In May, 1889, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson and their two daughters emigrated to this country and settled in Rock county. Four years later they went to live with Mr. and Mrs. Hoiland, with whom Mrs. Anderson had since made her home. Mr. Anderson died December 15th, 1913.
Besides the children above mentioned, Mrs. Anderson is also survived by thirty-three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
