Catherine "Katie" Emmerich was born in St. Cloud, MN, March 31, 1861. She married John J. Lauer on February 3, 1891 in St. Cloud, MN. They had four children, Aloys, Paulinus, Laura, and Albert. John worked as a stonecutter all his life as did several of Katie's family members. After her husband's death, Katie lived at the family home with her children, younger sister, Maggie, and her father, Peter, who lived there in his later years.
Katie died of cancer on December 28, 1913 at the age of 52. Her survivors included four children, Aloys, Paul, Albert, and Laura; one brother, John Emmerich, of St. Cloud; three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Hecklin, of Chaska; Miss Margaret Emmerich; and Mrs. Elizabeth Wetle, both of St. Cloud.
