Death Claims Ex-Utahn, 71, in Kansas

SALINA, KANS. — Lt Col. Aaron Y. (Ned) Hardy, 71, U.S. Army (Ret.), a former Salt Lake City resident and a grandson of Brigham Young, died Monday at St. John's Military School.

Death was caused by a heart attack. Lt. Col. Hardy had been a professor of military science and tactics at the school since 1951. Prior to that time, he was superintendent of the Colorado Military School, Denver, Colo.

HE WAS born May 14, 1890 in Salt Lake City, a son of Leonard G. and Miriam Young Hardy. He was educated in Salt Lake City schools and entered the U.S. Army in World War I from service in the Utah National Guard.

After war's end, he served for several years in Hawaii.

COL. HARDY married Erma Nichols, April 8,1916, in Salt Lake City. She died in 1936. He married Annabel Park July 29, 1938, in Denver, Colo.

SURVIVORS include his widow Denver; a daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Jean) Martin, Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Mrs. Eugenia H. Rampton, Bountiful; Mrs. Thomas )Emily) Blair, Granite, Salt Lake County; Mrs. A. Merlin (Georgie) Steed, Los Angeles, Calif.; brothers, Brigham Y. and Edward V., both of Salt Lake City; three grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled Friday at 10 a.m. in the Olinger's Mortuary chapel,
