Christian Charity, died Tuesday afernoon, May 25, 2004, at Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2004, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem with burial
at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Mary Catherine Weber was born April 20, 1907, in Marinette,
daughter of the late Matthew and Mary Krcma Weber. She entered the
convent in 1935 and professed her vows in 1938. Sister Leah earned a
Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc. Sister Leah
served as an elementary teacher at St. Michael, Whitelaw; Sacred Heart,
Sherwood; Corpus Christi & St. Joseph, Sturgeon Bay; SS Peter & Paul,
Kiel; St. Mary, Algoma; St. Bernard, Green Bay; Immaculate Conception,
Oneida; St. Nicholas, Zanesville, Ohio; Guardian Angels, West Point; and
Holy Family, Lindsay, Neb. After her retirement from active ministry in
1986, she resided at Ozanam Home, New Berlin, and St. Francis Convent,
Manitowoc. Since 2001, she has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center
at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, nieces,
nephews, the relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday (TODAY), where a prayer service
will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
