Born to Sevellon and Mary Bacon Stuart. Four days later his mother died. Sevellon, unable to care for the child, gave him up for adoption. His daughter Eva Belle Stuart Coon's mother-in-law, Mary Tinney Locke Coon, suggested letting her daughter and son-in-law adopt, since they had no children of their own. So Ambrose and Hattie Scott adopted Clarence Floyd Stuart as their own.
