WAYNESBORO - Edna Louise Hoffman Tenley, 92, a resident since Nov. 12, 2001, of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 242 Walnut St., died at 3:10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2003, in the nursing home. Born May 2, 1911, in Leitersburg, Md., she was a daughter of the late Aaron Victor and Effie Rebecca Oller Hoffman. In her early years, she lived in Leitersburg and graduated in 1930 from Hagerstown (Md.) High School. She was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren. On April 7, 1939, she and her husband, Herbert Edgar Tenley, were married. He died on Aug. 18, 1986. Mrs. Tenley moved to the Walnut Street address in 1988. She was a member of Mount Vernon Chapter 396 of Eastern Star, Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, the former North Chapter 739 AARP, Wayne Heights Homemakers Club and AARP's National division. She also volunteered with Cumberland Valley Visitors Center, Chambersburg Waynesboro Senior Citizen's Center and Meals on Wheels. Surviving are a daughter, Connie Coleman of Baltimore a granddaughter, Jennifer Coleman of Boston, Mass. nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, William Hoffman, Roy Hoffman, Fred M. Hoffman, Paul Hoffman and Ralph Hoffman three sisters, Naomi Whitmore, her twin Irene Hoffman and Ruth Hoffman and four half brothers, Jesse Hoffman, Walter Hoffman, Emmert Hoffman and John Hoffman. Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., with the Rev. Prudence B. Yelinek officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church St., Waynesboro 17268.
