Services for Monnie T. Jones, 85, of the Shady Grove community, were held Thursday June 29 in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Shady Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches Texas
Mr. Jones was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Panola County to the late Alice Estelle (Hill) and Thomas Olander Jones. He died Tuesday, June 27 in a Nacogdoches hospital. Mr. Jones was a retired operator for Champion Paper Mill, following 35 and 1/2 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Papermakers International Union. Mr. Jones was a Baptist, and had been a resident of Angelina County most of his life.
Survivors: wife, Lill Strahan Jones; sons, Delbert Michael Jones and Darwin T. Jones; brother, James Jones; sisters, Beatrice Maddox and Margarett Thomas; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
