Resa L. (Breithaupt) Atkins, 46, died in Wesleyan Health Care Center, Marion.

Mrs. Atkins was born Feb. 20, 1952 in Waynesboro, Va. She had been a Marion resident for 23 years.


She graduated from Waynesboro High School and Virginia Tech University. She attended Indiana Wesleyan University. She was a horticultural therapist at Marion Veterans Administration Medical Center. She also was a Longaberger Basket sales representative and she was the co-owner of Atkins Cycle Sales, Marion. She attended the Hanfield United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Master Gardeners. She was a 4-H leader, a former Cub Scout leader and a former lifeguard at the YMCA. She married George D. Atkins on Nov. 24, 1978.


Survivors include her husband; two sons, G. Caleb and C. Shea, both at home; a stepdaughter, Amy Atkins, Jonesboro; her parents, Rose and Ed Breithaupt, Waynesboro, Va.; her parents-in-law, Bill and Betty Ann Atkins, Marion; a brother, Charles Breithaupt, Waynesboro, Va.; three sisters, Patty (Charles) Coiner, Columbus, Ga., Cynthia (Mark) Earley, Richmond, Va., and Rose Mary (Dave) Gillespie, Pittsburg; and two step-grandchildren.


Services were held Tuesday in Needham-Storey Funeral Service, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., with Revs. Timothy Helm and Nanci Rosinski officiating. Burial was made in Gardens of Memory cemetery, Huntington County.
