TIMMONSVILLE -- Marion Gene Cox, 74, died Monday, July 7, 2003, after an illness. He was born in Florence County a son of the late Robert Harlee and Mae Hyman Cox. He was a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina School of Pharmacy. He was co-owner of Courtesy Drug in Timmonsville for 22 years.
He was a member of Tans Bay Baptist Church, a member of Benton Lodge No. 26, AFM, a member of the S.C. Pharmacy Association and the Pee Dee Pharmacy Association.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria Carter Cox of Timmonsville; two daughters, Brenda (Bob) Davis of Flower Mound, Texas and Rhonda (Fred) Spangler of Timmonsville; a stepson, Rick Cashwell of Timmonsville; a stepdaughter, Robin (Will) Herbert of Florence; three sisters, Doreen Copeland of Florence, Bertha Chandler of Georgetown and Mildred Richardson of Clarkton, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, in the Chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Bay Branch Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
