Adam J. Mueller, 73, of 2124 N. Twentieth Street, who served on the county board as Seventh ward supervisor for 21 years, died this morning at St. Nicholas hospital following a short illness.
He was born on a farm in the town of Rhine and had resided all his life in Sheboygan County. His grandfather on his father'’s side, Phillip Leonard Mueller, came from Germany in 1847 and settled on a farm one mile east of the Soldier’s Monument, in the town of Rhine. The following year his grandfather on his mother’s side, Christof Mueller, came from Germany and settled on a farm near Phillip.
Adam J. Mueller was born on the farm of Phillip Leonard Mueller on Jan. 23, 1866. He worked on the farm with his father during the summer months and at other times worked at the carpenter trade in the county and city of Plymouth until 1891. He married that year and with his bride came to Sheboygan and established a permanent home. He has since followed his trade, doing some contract work.
In 1916 he was first elected supervisor from the Seventh word and served in that capacity until 1925, in which years he was an unsuccessful candidate for alderman. In 1928 he was again elected supervisor by a large majority vote.
That year he was elected a member of the county highway committee, which office he held until the fall (1931) session of the county board.
On June 6, 1892 he was married to Elizabeth Adam, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Adam.
Survivors are his wife, two children, Edwin P. Mueller of Superior, and Miss Olida at home; two grandchildren; two brothers, Edwin S., of Manitowoc, and George of Grand Rapids; one sister, Mrs. George Happel, town of Rhine.
Funeral services will be held at Ballhorn Funeral Temple. Rev. E.R. Krueger will officiate and burial will be in Wildwood cemetery.
