Mr Cress had been in and about Kensel for a year and only recently was appointed an insurance commissioner for the territory in Canada for a Canadian Insurance company and was employed here temporarily waiting for his passport to Winnipeg, where he would have made his headquarters.
He was born in Chaska, MN, on December 26, 1878 and came to Hankinson in 1900 and to Kensel in 1902, operating a confectionary store. On November 14, 1904, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Brewer, the daughter of Mr and Mrs J. H. Brewer. To this union, one son and two daughters were born. He located to a farm seven miles north of Kensel and remained here until April 1914. Moving to Hingham, Montana, where he homesteaded until July 1926, when he moved to Lewiston, Idaho. They resided there until a year ago when Mr and Mrs Cress and their son, Allen came to Kensel and remained here since.
Those left to mourn his passing are: his wife and one son of Kensel; two daughters, Mrs Thomas (Georgia) Spooner of Lewiston, ID and Mrs Harold (Laura) Evans of Rathdrum, ID; four brothers, George and William of Minneapolis, MN; Frank of Clear Lake, MN; and Edward of Prior Lake, WI; and one sister, Anne. His aged mother passed away at her Minnesota home only six weeks ago.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at St John's Catholic Church with Father Zimmerman in charge. Interment was made at St John's Cemetery.
