Born Imelda Crawford in Palestine (now Israel) to Scottish parents. The family returned to Scotland and Anne was raised in Edinburgh. She began her film career in 1938 in Prison Without Bars costarring Glynis Johns. She costarred with many of the A List movie stars of her day. Richard Attenborough, Robert Taylor, James Mason and Stewart Granger are just a few of her male costars. Jean Simmons, Ann Blyth, Claudette Colbert and Gladys Cooper are added to that list as a few of her female costars. From 1938 thru 1954 she starred in 24 films. In 1953 she starred as Morgan Le Fay in Knights of the Round Table with Robert Taylor and Ava Gardner. While starring in the Agatha Christie play Spider's Web at the Savoy in London she was diagnosed with leukemia. She died in 1956, at the age of 35.
