Jane Bolen was born March 27, 1814, in Lawrence County, Ohio, to Henry and Margaret (McCrary) Bolen. At the age of nineteen years she was married to Mr. George Hobble. Early in life, she was converted to the Christian faith, and united herself with the Baptist Church. She lived loyal to her church until of late years, there being no Baptist Church in the vicinity where she lived, she joined the United Brethren Church. She was the mother of eight children, five of whom still live (1893) to mourn her death.
