Charles spent 16 months in the U.S. Coast Guard before joining the U.S. Army on September 29, 1947.

Service: U.S. Army, Notes: Corporal Burba was a member of Company D, 10th Engineer Combat Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 28, 1950. His remains were not recovered.

Corporal Burba was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

No obituary was available, that I (Nancy E. Graves), his Daughter, am aware of as of October 10, 2013.

Unit: Corporal (CPL) Charles E. Burba was assigned to Dog Company, 10th Engineer Combat Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division. He was reported killed in action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 28, 1950. His remains were not recovered. Since he was a known battlefield death, his name does not appear on either the "Johnnie Johnson List" or the "Missing in Action, Captivity" report compiled from returning POW's. His name appears on the loss roster for Field Search Case.
