ESSEX - Michelle Ann Drake, 74, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, in the Vermont Respite House, in Williston, following a long illness.
Born on Oct. 11, 1938, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Georges and Arleen (McKenna) Milot.
She graduated from Holy Angels Academy in Buffalo, N.Y., and attended Plattsburg University, studying fine arts. Besides being a full time mother of four children, Michelle had a very dynamic career as a realtor, starting in 1965 in New York state and then starting her own agency in Northern New Hampshire and Vermont. She continued her career in the Nashua, N.H., area until her retirement in 1999.
She worked at Beebe Real Estate in Hollis, the Norwood Agency, and DeWolfe of New England. She was very well respected by her clients and formed many lifelong friendships as a result. Her peers truly enjoyed working with her and loved her humorous personality. She made work fun!
Michelle is survived by her husband of 27 years, Dr. Guilford Drake of Essex; her four children, Bill Merritt and his companion, Monica Padron, of Essex, Brad Merritt and his wife, Robin, of Santa Barbara, Calif., Keith Merritt of Littleton, Colo., and Sheara Bailey and her husband, Pete, of New London, N.H.; and six grandchildren, Sean and Ryan Merritt, Joe and Katherine Merritt, Chelsea and her husband, Josh Worthen, and Maisea Bailey. She also leaves her sister, Sheara Billado and her husband, Bill, of Shelburne; her sister-inlaw, Marsha Milot of Burlington and Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was blessed by many good friends.
Michelle was predeceased by her brother, Gerry Milot.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the Ready Funeral Home Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Dr., in Essex. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington.
