Linda Sawyer Fort, of Marion, widow of Rev. Stafford Fort, died October 22, 2012, after an illness.

Mrs. Fort was born in Marion County, a daughter of the late David Archie Sawyer and Pearl Chestnut Sawyer.

Linda started working at First Charter Company as part time employee while in the 11th grade in 1960, and then full time after graduating from high school. She was also the Church Pianist for the Marion Church of God from the time she was 11 years old until she remarried and moved to Shulerville, SC in 1986. After her husband retired in 1999, they returned to Marion where she resumed working at First Charter until she retired in February 2010. Her career as a church pianist continued throughout her time in Shulerville and her return to Marion, as well as being the pianist at Grace Community Church while her husband was the minister.

Surviving are her son, John Tyler, Jr. (Amy) of Florence; stepsons, Dale Fort (Kelly) of Charleston, SC, Randy Fort (Belinda) of Statesboro, GA, and Alanson Fort of Shulerville, SC; brother Ray Sawyer (Ruth) of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren: Madison Tyler, Devan Tyler, Ethan Tyler, Kayleigh Fort, Spencer Fort, Christopher Fort, Lindsey Fort, Joel Ackerman, Patrick Ackerman, Logan Fort, Hannah Fort, and Lacey Fort; as well as six great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, October 24, 2012, at Grace Community Church, directed by Richardson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Devotion Gardens Cemetery.
