Yvonne moved to El Dorado Springs at a young age and lived her life there until moving to Nevada in 2004. She attended El Dorado Springs High School graduating in 1974. She was saved as a young child at the First Baptist Church in El Dorado Springs.
Yvonne began working as a teenager at Chicken Marys and continued working, sometimes two jobs at a time, until her untimely death when she was employed by Skills Unlimited in Nevada. She had retired from the Nevada Habilitation Center on August 31, 2008, after nearly 29 years of service.
On October 10, 1986, Yvonne married the love of her life, Ben Lowell Coleman. They had one son together, Michael Gene. Bennie accepted Yvonne's daughter Linda Kay as his own, adopting her as a young child and Yvonne became a step-mom to Bennie's two sons, Jerry and Davy.
Yvonne's favorite activities were spending time with her family and friends, working with the disabled which she called her extended family, and her favorite was going to casinos with Downstream. The highlight of her life was when she was able to spend weekends with her grandson Blakey, playing army men, Wii games, watching movies and baking cookies with him. She also enjoyed cooking meals, playing Wii games, and watching movies with her granddaughter Charity.
Preceding Yvonne in death were both sets of grandparents, father, step-father, mother-in-law Zoe Coleman, father-in-law Ben Coleman, step-mother-in-law Lucille Coleman, brother Jim Johnson, sister-in-law Pam Roby, two great nephews and numerous other relatives.
Survivors include her mother Elsie Johnson; her husband Ben Coleman; daughter Linda Kay Anderson and husband Brian; son Michael Gene Coleman and wife Leslie; two granddaughters: Charity Lynn and Cheyenne Brooke; one grandson Blakey; two brothers: Kenneth Roby and Kent Roby and wife Malita; sister and best friend Shirley Bailey and husband Terry; nieces and families: Michele and Travis Christie, Travis Michael and Elizabeth; Samatha and Jake Duncan, Jaden, Jalynn and Jeanna; Cassie and Matt Hogan, Matthew, Bryon and Abbygail; Brandy and Wyatt Brown, Madison and Kylee; Rachel Bailey and daughter Blazic; Erin and Dustin Ray, Bricen and Trystan; and April Bailey and children RyLynn and Z'Koa. She is also survived by one special aunt Odessa Moffatt and several other relatives and friends including special friends Terry and Chaz, Jim, Marcella and Norma.
Funeral services for Yvonne Coleman were held on Monday, October 22, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Rev. James Coleman officiating. Musical selections were "Go Rest High on That Mountain," "Sissy's Song," and "The Old Rugged Cross." Interment followed in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Michael Coleman, Terry Bailey, Travis Anderson, Jim Overton, Ed Lukenbill, and Wyatt Brown. Honorary pallbearers were: Blakey Coleman, Robin Smith, Dustin Ray, Dallas Moore, Darrel Link and Brian Anderson.
