Minnie was daughter of William Green and Sarah Jane Phelps Armstrong; she was born in the southeast area of Carbondale. On October 19, 1897, she joined in Samuel T. McGee in wedlock in Jackson County, Illinois.

She was living in Taylor, Michigan at the time of her death. Minnie fell in July and suffered a broken hip. Her health has been poor since the fall.

Four children preceded Minnie in death: (1) Lena, (2) Beulah, (3) Lester, and (4) Earl. Her surviving family included her husband and six children: (1) Mrs. James Andrews of Milan, Michigan; (2) Mrs. N. J. Coleman of Du Quoin, Illinois, (3) Mrs. Frank Drake of Carbondale, (4) Mr. Robert McGee of Southgate, Michigan, (5) Mr. Cecil McGee of Wyandotte, Michigan, and (6) Mr. Paul McGee of Chebanse, Illinois. Her sister, Mrs. J. F. Nelson of Paducah, Kentucky and 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren also survived.
