Mr. Arthur Albert Jones, 83, of 330 Springwood Road, former employee of Reamer Industries Inc,. died at the Providence Hospital Sunday after a long illness.
Mr. Jones was born in Batesburg, a son of the late John Wells Jones and Mary Ann Cracknell Jones. He had made his home in Columbia for the past 70 years and was a member of Main Street Methodist Church, a Mason and a Shriner, member of the Woodmen of the World and the Knights of Pythias.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Belle Harrison Jones; three sons, Harold Wells Jones and Curtis Charles Jones, both of Columbia and Maurice Arthur Jones, of Nutley, N.J..
Funeral services will be held from the Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel. Tuesday at 11 a.m. conducted by the Rev. A.B. Ferguson. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are A.W. Platt, Alfred Jones, Raymond Hendrix Jr., Arthur Kneece, J.P. Kneece and Earl Kneece.
Honorary pallbearers are Hunter Elkins, Floy Jumper, R.L. Edwards, Dr. W.O. Tanner, Victor Coleman, Walter Shipley, Larkin Speer, Hines McWaters, Clyde Middlebrooks, E.P. Dyson, B.H. Melton, W.S.
