Christian Charity, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial
will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem, with burial at Holy Family
Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
the former Dorothy Uhlers was born Feb. 6, 1918 in Carlton, Wis.,
daughter of the late Frank and Mary Ledvina Uhlers. Sister Francis
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc,
and a Master of Science degree from Creighton University, Omaha, Neb.
She entered the convent in 1931 and professed her vows in 1936. Sister
Francis served as a teacher at St. Joseph and Holy Family College,
Manitowoc; Xavier High School, Appleton; Catholic Memorial High School,
Waukesha; Guardian Angels/Central Catholic High School, West Point, Holy
Family, Lindsay, all of Nebraska; Rosecrans, Zanesville, Catholic
Central, Steubenville, all of Ohio; and St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey,
Mich. She also served in the bursar's office and mail room at Holy
Family Convent. Since January 2002, she has been a resident of St. Rita
Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the Franciscan
Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a
sister-in-law: Marcella Uhlers, Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, where a prayer
service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc is assisting
the family with funeral arrangements.
