Christian Charity, died on Thursday morning, June 7, 2007, at Holy
Family Convent, Manitowoc.
The former Mary Frances Sulko was born on Oct. 4, 1917, in Mingo
Junction, Ohio, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Rasko) Sulko.
She entered the convent in 1936, and professed her vows in 1939.
Sister Mary earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family
College, Manitowoc, and a Master of Arts degree from Notre Dame
University, Notre Dame, Ind. Sister Mary served as a teacher at St.
Anthony, Neopit; Catholic Memorial High School, Waukesha; Guardian
Angels, West Point, Neb.; San Roque, Santa Barbara, Calif.; St.
Nicholas, Zanesville, Ohio; Pisinemo Religion Center, Sells, Ariz.;
St. Theresa, Kekaha, Hawaii; and as a guidance counselor and teacher
at Xavier High School, Appleton; St. Willibrord, Chicago, Ill.; Holy
Family High School, Lindsay, Neb.; and Bishop Amat High School, La
Puente, Calif. After her retirement from active ministry, she
performed various tasks at San Damiano Convent, Slinger; St. Joseph
Home, West Point, Neb.; St. Agnes, Green Bay; and Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc. Since 2002, she had been residing in St. Rita Health Center
at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2007,
at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem, with
burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2007. A prayer service
will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
