SISTER DIES AT HOSPITAL
Former Sister Superior Was 83 Years of Age at Death
Sister M. Benedicta, 83, former sister superior of the Holy Family hospital,
died at the hospital yesterday shortly after noon. She had made her home
there.
Funeral services will be held Friday at the Holy Family Convent at Silver
Lake. Rites will be held in the chapel at 8 a.m.
Sister Benedicta, nee Miss Stich, was born near Manitowoc Rapids Feb. 8,
1851?. She attended school in Manitowoc and entered the Convent of the Order
of St. Francis at Silver Lake Nov. 9, 1869. She taught school in the county
and went to the hospital here as superior in 1907. She was in active service
at the hospital until April 1, 1936, when she retired. Sister Benedicta
continued to live at the hospital, however.
Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
Three nephews and two nieces survive. They are Joseph DeGuire, city; A. J.
Pfeffer, Chilton; Edward Pfeffer, Waukesha; and Mrs. H. W. Schwake, Two
Rivers and Alma DeGuire of Algoma.
