Sister Florenza Stutz, age 96, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Sunday, Jan.
25, 2004, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial
will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem with burial at Holy Family
Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Hazel Stutz was born March 23, 1907, in Chicago, Ill.,
daughter of the late Erich and Mae Kaufman Stutz. She entered the
Convent in 1925 and professed her vows in 1928. Sister Florenza earned a
Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mount St. Mary College, Los Angeles, Calif.
Sister Florenza served as a teacher at St. Mary, Kaukauna; St. John,
Antigo; Guardian Angels, Oneida; Sacred Heart, Oshkosh, St. Joseph,
Waukesha; St. Andrew, Potosi; Immaculate Conception, Yuma, Ariz.; St.
John, Komatke, Ariz.; San Xavier, Tucson, Ariz.; St. Anthony, Topawa,
Ariz.; St. Peter, Bapchule, Ariz; St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, Mich.;
and St. Willibrord, Chicago, Ill. She also served as a librarian at St.
Joseph, Waukesha, St. John, Komatke, Ariz.; St. Francis, Yuma, Ariz.; a
teacher of CCD at St. John Vianney, Hacienda Heights, Calif.; San Roque,
Santa Barbara, Calif.; and as a secretarial aide at San Xavier, Tucson,
Ariz. After her retirement from active ministry, she resided at Ozanam
Home, New Berlin, and Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Since 1996, she
has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is
a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, other
relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. (TONIGHT) Tuesday, where a prayer service
will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
