Allen Evans
Allen D. Evans, 59, of Albion died Saturday, October 11, 1997 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Omaha after suffering a critical heart attack on October 4.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday October 15 at Immanuel Zion Lutheran Church in rural Albion. Rev. Larry Spomer officiated with interment in the North Branch West Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by American Legion Post # 162 and VFW Post #736.
Casket bearers were Roger Lee, Craig A. Nelson, Milan Garder, Jerry Hestekind, Bruce Werner and Steve Foster.
Honorary bearers were Ray Arends, Dorr Anding, Larry Johnson, Jim Miller, Dennis Podhska, Bob Shaw, Herman Kvamme, Emil Kvamme and Don Roberg.
Kathy Nelson was organist and Linda Spomer and Janice Tisthammer were singers.
Allen Dean Evans, the son of Elmer H and Ida L Knudson Evans was born August 24, 1938 at Norfolk. He received his elementary education at Boone County Districts #33 and #88 and graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1956. Allen then attended and graduated from Norfolk Junior college. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska in Omaha. While attending college he worked at a radio equipment company in Omaha.
On April 3, 1965, Allen and Carolyn Ida Roberg were united in marriage at South Branch Lutheran Church in rural Albion. They lived east of Petersburg where Allen farmed and custom farmed. In 1980, Allen began work as a crop adjuster for American Agrisurance out of Council Bluffs, IA. He also audited insurance files at the company’s Kearney office. In 1985, the family moved to Albion. Currently, Allen had worked as the American Agrisurance Claims Supervisor for northeast Nebraska.
Allen was a member of Immanuel-Zion Church and served on the church council. He servedon the District #95 school board and was a member of American Legion Post #162 of Albion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of Albion, one son, Brian Allen Evans of Albion, three daughters, Jodie Lynn Evans and Marla Jo Evans, both of Osceola and Becky Sue Evans of Albion, his mother, Ida Evans of Lincoln, a sister, Ruth Anne Evans of Omaha, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Evans, two uncles, George and Arthur Evans, one aunt, Stella Evans, his grandparents, George and Emma Evans, and a step-grandmother, Nellie Evans.
