Aiken, Sandra Louise Solheim 75, passed on with her family nearby on December 12, 2013. Sandy, the only daughter of Karsten and Louise (Crozier) Solheim, was born on August 11, 1938 in Seattle, Washington. She grew up all across the country spending time in various cities in both California and New York state.

She began her work career at California's Sunset Magazine before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1966 in order to work for her father at the up-and-coming Karsten Manufacturing Corporation. Sandy never met a stranger and her gentle eyes and friendly smile greeted everyone. It was here she met and married Alex Aiken, her husband of 31 years. Even though she had a lot of medical problems, she made the most of every situation and kept looking up. Sandy enjoyed life and for her that life is centered on the Church. She was always telling everyone to keep looking up and was quick to offer a prayer for anyone needing encouragement. She truly had childlike faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Sandy was preceded in home going by her father and husband. Surviving are her mother, Louise; 2 aunts, Elaine Solheim and Marjorie Korsak; 3 brothers, Karsten Louis (Bonnie), Allan (Joan) and John (Sunny) Solheim, as well as her step-daughter, Alexis Bartels (Rick); sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Albin and Bonnie (Virgil) Lowell; also 5 grandchildren, Andrea (Philip) Richards, Debra (Mickey) Lopez, Julie (Brandon) Tess, Autumn Williams and Drew Bartels; 10 great-grandchildren, Jenna, Jordan and Brandon Richards, Jaylin Merlo, Lylah and Alex Lopez, Brittney and Brayden Tess, Alexa Williams and Khloe Snyder; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2013 with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the Freeway Baptist Church, 8501 N. Black Canyon Hwy., Phoenix, AZ 85021. A reception will follow in the church Fellowship Hall. The graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. at Hansen Desert Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85254.
