Mr. Porter was mowing hay at his home on Cedar Springs Road when the tractor he was using turned over on him. Two employees who were nearby came to his rescue but he died a few minutes later.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 today at Asbury Methodist Church with burial in the Fleming cemetery near Cripple Creek.
The Rev. R. A. Ireson and the Rev. M. G. Goodpasture officiated at the services.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Sutherland Porter, Rural Retreat; a son, Charles Everett Porter, Marion; two brothers, W. A. Porter and Robert S. Porter, Cripple Creek.
Lindsey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
