Johanna Dunn, 70, of Murphysboro, Ill., died on Thursday, May 17, 2001 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

She was born on Aug. 27, 1930 in Chicago, Ill., to Andrew and Thelma Fehringer Mifflin.

On March 19, 1949 she married Benjamin Dunn in Piggott, Ark.

Johanna worked as a clerk for both the former Bass Women's Apparel in Anna, Ill., and Mills Distributing in Murphysboro. She was a very active member of the Murphsyboro First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon of the church. She was also a member of the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary.

Johanna was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived in death by her husband and two sons: Tom and wife Elaine Dunn of Cobden, Ill., and Joe and wife Tempa Dunn of Chatham, Ill.; six grandchildren: Kyle, Abby and Katie Dunn, Angela and husband Scott Hayman and Kevin and Linda Thornburg; seven great grandchildren: Chole Dunn, Lauren and Isabel Hayman, Jessie and Brandy Warner and Lydia Thornburg; and one brother: Joe and wife Melba Mifflin of Murphysboro.

She is preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services were on Saturday, May 19 at 1 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tom Hosbon officiating.

Visitation was on Friday, May 18 where friends called from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and then on Saturday at the church from noon until the hour of service.

Johanna is buried in the Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to TIP Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church. (Include funeral home name in visitation times.)
