Sister Mary Boniface Stohr, age 93, a Franciscan Sister of Christian
Charity of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Saturday, April 13,
2002, at Holy Family Convent.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial
will be Rev. Samuel D. Jaden, O. Praem with burial to follow at Holy
Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Mary Magdalen Stohr, on June 20, 1908 in Boyd, WI.,
daughter of the late George and Magdalen Kroy Stohr. Sister Mary entered
the convent in 1938 and professed her vows in 1941. She served as a
homemaker at St. Mary, Brillion, St. Patrick, Maple Grove, St. Paul
Home, Kaukauna, St. Anthony, Neopit, St. Pius X., Appleton, St.
Augustine, Chilton, St. Joseph & Corpus Christi, Sturgeon Bay, St. John,
Antigo, St. Mary, Clarks Mills, WI; St. Ambrose, Ironwood, St. Anne,
Menominee, St. Francis Xavier, Petosky, Mich.; St. Nicholas, Zanesville,
St. Agnes, Mingo Junction, St. Mary, Delaware and St. Benedict,
Cambridge, Ohio. She also performed various services for the Sisters at
Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, and Ozanam Home, New Berlin, WI. Since
January 1996, she has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the
Motherhouse.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, a brother
and sister-in-law, William and Grace Stohr, Wausau, nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends also survive. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m.
Monday, April 15, 2002, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, where a
prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting with funeral arrangements.
