Daniel Backes, age 57, of Columbus, died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Daniel Lee Backes was born, June 18, 1955 in Norfolk, Nebraska to William and Esther (Cook) Backes. He grew up in Humphrey. Through Region IV he worked for Behlen Mfg. and D&L in the 1990s. He also worked as a custodian at Northstar Services for a short time. Danny enjoyed pro wrestling, Dallas Cowboys, bowling, music, dancing, singing Pretty Women to Kathi and doing impersonations. One of Dannys greatest joys was to be with his family. On July 21, 2006 Danny and Kathi Gonka expressed their commitment to on another in a dedication ceremony.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters :Mary Jean Ainsworth, Arlene Engel and brother-in-law John Engel.
