Joint Services Saturday for Mr. and Mrs. Maderer
Joint funeral services were conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. in the First Methodist Church at Premont for Charles M. Maderer, 88, and his wife, Anna Rose Maderer, 85, who died within one day of each other last weekend.
Maderer died at 6 a.m. Thursday, May 18, at his home in Premont after a long illness. His wife died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 19.
They had been residents of Jim Wells county for 50 years moving to Texas from Pittsburg, Penn. The Rev. James Carter pastor of the church officiated in the special service.
Burial was in Premont Cemetery under direction of Howard-Williams Funeral Home of Falfurrias.
Survivors include four sons, Theodore J., William and Charles, all of Premont, and Arthur of Kingsville; four daughters, Miss Esther Maderer of Premont, Mrs. T.V. Plevans of Falfurrias, Mrs. Margaret Mertens of Eugene, Ore., and Mrs. Edgar Taylor of Kingsville; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Beck of Pittsburgh; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Moving to the Premont area in 1911, Mrs. and Mrs. Maderer were married on Jan. 27, 1897, in Pittsburg. Mrs. Maderer was the former Anna Rose Stock. Maderer was born on Jan. 23, 1873 and his wife on Sept. 30, 1875, both in Pittsburg.
Preceding the parents in death was the eldest son, Edward, on Nov. 19, 1941. A retired farmer and dairyman, Maderer moved with his family to Premont in 1947.
Pall bearers were Wilmer Schneider, Linwood Disbro, Albert Gartner, David Coots, Gene Howell and Bill Speer; and John Disbro, Clyde Wright, Joe Langen, Harold Knellinger, Barney Finley and Billy Isham.
