A former Baton Rouge City Police officer, he died Sunday, March 16, 1997, at his residence in Baton Rouge. He was 75 and a native of Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Visiting was held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel 8 a.m. until religious services at noon Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Keith McAllister and the Rev. Tim Kerner. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by wife, Patsy Abbott Altazan; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Rebecca and John Starring and Deborah and Michael Johnson; two sons and two daughters-in-law, James N. and Mary Altazan and Kenneth A. and Marcy Altazan; two stepchildren, Renee Muse and Joey Abbott; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Athel Robinson; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Rita Altazin; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, Myrtle Charlet Altazan; a son, Ronald Charles Altazan; two brothers, Louis S. and Arthur A. Altazan; and a sister, Eunice Falconer. Pallbearers will be Brent Starring, Brandon Altazan, Christopher and Stephen Johnson, Joey Abbott, Ramsey Falconer, Brett Furr and Blake Hodges. Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, American Lung Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
