Sister Rosaleen Sromovsky, age 91, a member of The Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem with burial
to follow at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Anna Sromovsky was born Jan. 4, 1911, in Manistique, Mich.,
daughter of the late George and Caroline Barnes Sromovsky. She entered
the convent in 1925 and professed her vows in 1929. Sister Rosaleen
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Norbert College, De Pere.
Sister Rosaleen served as a teacher of primary grades at Sacred Heart,
Oshkosh; St. Mary, Bloomington, St. Paul, Wrighttown, St. Paul,
Manitowoc, all of Wisconsin; St. Benedict, Cambridge, Ohio; San Roque,
Santa Barbara, Calif.; Catholic Central, Menominee and St. Ambrose,
Ironwood, both of Michigan. She also served as librarian at Catholic
Central, Menominee and St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc. Since 1998, she
has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is
a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include: The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a
sister, Margaret Sromovsky, Milwaukee; a sister-in-law: Dorothy
Sromovsky, Amberg, Wis. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy family Convent from
4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday where a prayer service will be held at Holy Family
Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
