BLACK - Dr. Charles H., 85, formerly of Johnstown, died Feb. 20, 1996, at Heritage Health Care Center in Florida. Born April 24, 1910, in Johnstown, son of Dr. Charles L. and Nellie (Stahl) Black. Preceded in death by parents; wife, former Mary Catherine Porter; and grandson, Ronald L. Jr. Survived by children, Charles H., married to Sherry Regan, Johnstown; Patricia A. McIlwain, Newport News, Va.; James T., married to former Anise Gartland, Johnstown; and Ronald L., married to former Deborah Pilat, Johnstown; also 10 grandchidren, Chuck, David, Daniel and Melissa Black; Kevin McIlwain, married to former Cassandra Novak; Keith McIlwain, married to former Robyn Bell; James Jr., Jason and Michael Black and Lynanne Black; and three great-grandchildren, Christian and Kate McIlwain and Rahne McIlwain. Also survived by these sisters: Aline Abdalla, Sanibel, Fla.; Sara, married Vernon Appel, Johnstown; and Doris Black, Surfside Beach, S.C. Dr. Black practiced medicine in Johnstown for 40 years and was truly loved by all of his patients. He was a graduate of Westmont High School, the University of Pittsburgh and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy. He retired in 1977, moved to Sea Isle, N.J., and subsequently to Castlebury, Fla. Member of the Elks, and the American Osteopathic Association. Former member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder. Was attending physician at the former Raymond Hospital. Private memorial service was held. Interment, Grandview Mausoleum. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice in Dr. Black's name.
