He was married to his first wife, Margaret M. Morgan, 13 January 1976. They had two or three children and one of their sons may have lived in Kansas as an adult. His first wife died on 24 March 1881 and he was married to Mary E Thacker on 11 May 1882. She may have been from Syracuse, KS and is buried in Bristow, Oklahoma. They had two daughters and one son, Corwin T. Henkins, who is buried in Seneca, Missouri.

A.C. Henkins worked long hours as a carpenter and settled in Bristow, Oklahoma before Oklahoma statehood because of the good drinking water in the city.

He claimed land in the September 16th, 1893 Cherokee Strip land run.

After he died, his wife received part of his Union pension and a stipend provided for school books for his children.

Current descendants have not been located.
