Ozaukee County's oldest resident, Elizabeth Bauschelt, 108, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Lasata Care Center, Cedarburg, where she has lived since 1998.

A former City of Port Washington resident, Mrs. Bauschelt lived at 713 W. Larabee St. until she moved to Lasata.

She was born Dec. 26, 1887, in the Town of Port Washington, the daughter of Nic and Mary Pasmell Bode.

The family moved to the city when she was a small girl. Her father owned and operated a tavern on Franklin Street between what is now M&I Bank and Harry's Restaurant. Her mother cooked meals served at the tavern and to boarders who lived in rooms above the tavern.

Mrs. Bauschelt attended St. Mary's School.

On June 18, 1915, she and Michael Bauschelt were married at St. Mary's Church, Port Washington.

The couple built a home across the street from her parent's home on Larabee Street.

Mr. Bauschelt died Sept. 25, 1969.

Mrs. Bauschelt was a skilled seamstress. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and was an active member of the Lasata community, according to her daughter-in-law Ethel Bauschelt.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 30, at St. Mary's Church, Port Washington. Father Allan Sommer officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetey, Port Washington.

Mrs. Bauschelt is survived by her daughter, Mary Berry of Gurnee Ill., 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband,two sons John and Frederick, two brothers, Theodore Bode and Ed Bode, and a sister Ann Zwasky, preceded her in death.
