Mr. Whitaker was born April 25, 1905, at Gotebo, Okla. He retired in 1970 as a Linotype operator for The Joplin Globe. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Monett, Mo.
His wife, Dorothy Mae Bailey Whitaker, died in 1976.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Hill, Glenpool, Okla., and Doris Power, Tulas; 11 grandchildren. and 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Eastlawn Chapel, Tulsa.
