George C. Diebold, 82, of South Haven died Tuesday, September 11 at his home. He was born January 11, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Ada (Mudd) Diebold. George married Shirley Wilson in South Haven on August 16, 1957. George retired from the U.S. Navy. He served his country during World War II, Korean Conflict, Vietnam, and the Cold War with Russia. George then worked as a maintenance supervisor at Controlled Rubber Products in South Haven for 22 years. He is preceded in death along with his parents by 3 brothers – James, Bernard and Leo Diebold and one sister – Coryne Carter. He is survived by his wife – Shirley Diebold of South Haven, Michigan. Two daughters Desiree (James) Neely of South Haven, Michigan and Cathy (Alan) Otterson of Three Rivers, Michigan. One grandson – J.C. Neely and three step-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services will be Friday, September 14 at 11:00 A.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Linstrom officiating.
