Of South Haven

Died Tuesday, March 15 at his home. He was born July 25, 1911 in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Ada (Mudd) Diebold. He served his country in the National Guard. Buster married Frances Mary Growden on August 11, 1935 in South Haven, Michigan. Buster worked at Overton Frame Company and as a Police Officer on the South Haven Police Department for 28 years retiring in 1976. He enjoyed golf, horse racing and cribbage. He was a member of the Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church. He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife - Frances Mary Diebold who died in 1996. Daughter - Barbara Hays who died in 1998. Brother - Bernard "Midge" Diebold and sister - Corryn Carter. He is survived by three sons - Steve (Mary) Diebold of Grand Junction, Michigan, James Diebold of South Haven, Michigan and Donald (Bok Sun) Diebold of Schnecksville, PA. Three daughters - Carolyn James of South Haven, Michigan, Lola Buyce of St. Louis, Missouri and Mary (Tim) Martin of Downingtown, PA. Son-in-Law - Robert Hays of Albuquerque, New Mexico. 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Two brothers - George (Shirley) Diebold of South Haven, Michigan and Leo Diebold of Avon Park, Florida. Visitation will be Friday, March 18 from 6 - 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church with The Rev. Andrew Gross officiating. Burial will take place at the Church of the Epiphany Memorial Garden. Memorial contributions can be made to the Church of the Epiphany.
