Still looking for parents. Was a boarder at the time of the 1900 Census, living in Buffalo Township, Union County, Pennsylvania. He married Nellie H. Vanetta about 1905. In 1910, the family was living at 1033 Railroad Avenue in Sunbury, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. They had two daughters Evelyn and Geraldine. At the time of the WWI Draft Registration on 12 September 1918, Blaine Gillespie Walter was living in Milton, Northumberland, Pennsylvania, United States with his wife and 5 children. He was a bookkeeper. Three more children had been added to the family: Marlan O., Helen E. and Blaine Gillespie Walter Jr.

In 1919, the family moved to Millersburg, Dauphin, Pennsylvania, where Blaine G. Walter Sr. worked at the Johnson-Baillie Shoe Co.

1920, 1930, and 1940 Census records have the family living in Millersburg.

RETIRED INSURANCE MAN DIES SUDDENLY

Blaine G. Walter, 75, retired insurance man and highly respected citizen, passed away suddenly on Tuesday [1 September 1959, although Pennsylvania Death Records Index give date of 2 September 1959] evening at his home, 710 Union street. He had been a surgery patient at the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, within the past year but had apparently fully recovered and enjoying good health.

Mr. Walter was born June 8, 1884 at Mazeppa, Union county, and came to Millersburg from Lewisburg in September, 1918, and engaged in the insurance business for many years until retiring July 1, 1956. His son, Marlan O. Walter, now conducts the business, the Walter Insurance Agency.

Mr. Walter was a member of Grace E.U.B. Church, Susquehanna Lodge, No. 364, F. & A. M.; Lodge 59, Loyal Order of Moose, and Modern Woodmen of America, of this place.

His wife, Mrs. Nellie H. Walter, passed away February 27, 1958.

Mr. Walter is survived by a son, Marlan O. Walter, of town; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph C. Landis and Mrs. Raymond T. Fromme, of town, and Mrs. Paul S. Mattis, of Elizabethville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A son, Blaine G. Walter, Jr., a Marine, lost his life in service during World War II.

Services will be held from the Riegle Funeral Home, 512 Market street, Saturday [5 September 1959] at 10 a.m., the Rev. E. B. Harris, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be made in the Lewisburg Cemetery.

Viewing at the funeral home this Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
