Dixie Lorene Akins, 77, passed away October 15, 2012 in Stockton, MO. Graveside funeral service and burial will be 1:30 PM Tuesday October 16, 2012 at Fullington Cemetery near Cane Hill. Dixie was born February 20, 1935 at Dadeville, MO to Howard H. and Norma (West) Akins. She lived with her parents on a farm near Cane Hill.
She was a member of the Flint Hill and El Dorado Springs Church of Christ congregations. She graduated from Stockton High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Ellen Shrum and brother-in-law Guy C. Montgomery.
She is survived by her sisters Bonnie Montgomery, Waco, TX; Jane Hammer, husband Darrel, Raytown, MO; nephews Mike Montgomery, wife Becky, Lorena, TX, Kevin Hammer, Kansas City, MO and niece Lisa Wilson, husband Lonnie, Raytown, MO; great nephews, Marc Montgomery, wife Jamie of Lorena, TX; Kyle Wilson, Raytown, MO and great-great nephew Kesler Montgomery, Lorena, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite children's home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to staff at Stockton Nursing Center, Hospice nurses and Dr. Boeke.
