Ms. Bertie Lorraine (Etzler) Harris, 71, of Frederick, died on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.

Born June 3, 1933 in Tuscarora, she was a daughter of the late Vernon and Ethel Irene Warner Etzler. Ms. Harris spent most of her childhood in the Loat's Home & Orphanage and had many lasting friendships and memories of her time there with family and friends. She was a employed for many years with the Hartz Company, Frederick, and more recently worked at Sunrise Retirement Center. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick, and enjoyed puzzles and quilting.

She is survived by four sons, Donald Bruce Mills Jr. and wife Lisa C. of Kodak, Tenn., Ralph Ray Kolb Jr. and wife Irene K. of Williamsport, Jeffrey Alan Kolb and friend Yvonne Thomas of Frederick, and Glen Alan Harris and friend Wendy Moore of Boonsboro; seven brothers and sisters, Bernice L. Davis and husband Loy, Octavia M. Page and husband Robert, all of Frederick, Mary L. Zimmerman of Lakeland, Fla., Marian D. Stup and husband Richard of Tucson, Ariz., Raymond L. Etzler of Union Bridge, Arthur L. Grossnickle of Junction City, Kan., and Marlene Baker; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also remembered by a beloved friend, Gloria Clinton; and a devoted, loving nephew, Roger Keeney.

She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Catherine Keeney, Margaret Baker, Mildred Wolfe, Mable V. Knight, Thomas Etzler, Vernon Etzler, Kenneth Etzler and John Etzler.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29 from the funeral home. The Rev. Stacey L. Brady, of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Kolb III, Timothy Kolb, Scott Harris, Roger Keeney, Nathan Butts and Eric Picard. Interment will be in the Taylorsville Cemetery, Taylorsville.
