Sister Berard Schroeder, 100, of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Tuesday afternoon, April 18, 1989 at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Presiding at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Robert B. Rappen O.Praem, with burial at Holy Family Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born November 14, 1888, in Antigo, Wisconsin, daughter of the lat Christopher and Mary Rehfeldt Schroeder. The former Elizabeth Schroeder entered the convent in 1910. Sister Schroeder earned credits at Holy Family College at Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Creighton University at Omaha, Nebraska, State Teachers College at Oshkosh, Wisconsin and St. Louis School of Medicine. sister Berard taught at St. Mary's at Rhinelander, Wisconsin; St. Mary's at Kaukauna, Wisconsin; St. Ambrose at Ironwood, Minnesota; St. Nicholas at Zanesville, Ohio; Guardian Angels of West Point, Nebraska; St. Andrew, Potosi; St. Anthony at Oconto Falls, Wisconsin; St. Anne's at New Holstein, Wisconsin and St. Joseph at Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Sister Schroeder also was a medical technologist at Good Samaritan Hospital at Zanesville, Ohio for 37 years. She was residing at Holy Family Convent since 1979.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.Friends may call at Holy Family Convent, 4 pm to 8 pm Friday. Prayer service will be held at 7 pm at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
