From Colleen Lockwood of Shoshone, Idaho; I have recently discovered his father is Thomas Hunt Sumner and his mother is Rebecca Downer married 7 June 1761 in Hebron, Tolland, Connecticut. I have yet to discover where they are buried. A bio on the Descendants of William Sumner of 19th century, suggest Thomas died in Canada.
George Henry was b. 13 July 1771 as was his twin brother Henry George. Their other siblings were: Thomas Hunt b. 14 April 1762, William Augustus b. 1 May 1764, Samuel Lockhart b. 11 June 1766, John Austin b. 18 Nov 1768, Azer Betts b. 1779, and Sylvia American b. 1781. (The above dates found in family search)They all emigrated with their parents to Kingston, New Brunswick in May 1783. Thomas served in the French and Indian War. In 1776, he was imprisoned as a Tory, escaped and fled to New York in 1777. Thomas later filed claim to land in Gloucester County. He received land near Toronto. He died there 4 Jan 1820.
