Uncle Arrested In Double Slaying

A 14-year-old girl was struck several times with a hatchet and strangled to death after an attempted rape, and her 17-year-old brother died with five bullet wounds in the head in a North Portland home early Friday, authorities said.

Their uncle, Dale A Thobois, 27, was arrested later Friday and accused of the crimes. (He was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison.)

The body of Tamara Lynn Warren of Southeast Portland was found on a couch in the living room of the home at 10140 N. Hudson St. where her brother lived with their uncle and aunt, said Detective Dave Simpson, Portland Police Bureau public information officer.

The body of her brother, Thomas Allen Warren, was found on a bed in a back bedroom of the one-story two bedroom home, Simpson said. Police found a hatchet covered with blood and a small-caliber handgun in the house, he said.
Simpson said Miss Warren had lived with her mother, Jacquelin Senter, in Southeast Portland.
