John Austin Whitlock was the son of Beasley Whitlock and Sarah Clements. On 18 Dec 1855 he married Nancy Jane Lively in Coweta County, Georgia. They had seven children: Marietta, James Lucious, Sarah E., Nancy Caladonia, John R., Charles Monroe, and Eugenia A. Whitlock.
He was a farmer and lived his entire life in Fayette County.
