George W Keller, of Co. I, enrolled Sep. 10, 1861 in Elkhart by Capt. Heath as a Musician; mustered in Nov. 22, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Lt. Stansbury at age 28. He was 5Œ 4 tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, and brown hair. Born Apr. 18, 1827 in Allegany Co., NY, employed as a machinist, married to Julia A., resident of Elkhart, in Elkhart Co., IN. Discharged for chronic nephritis Feb. 14, 1863 in Indianapolis, IN with rank of Musician. Notes: Fifer. Actual age was 34. Arrived at Evansville, IN Feb. 23, 1862, on steamer Diamond with other sick men. He filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #610815 Aug. 11, 1870 in MO (all crossed out). Died Jan. 23, 1883; probably buried Oakridge Cemetery, Sec. 20 with Julia Ann, in Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN. Julia A. filed Widowfs Pension Application to receive Widowfs Pension Certificate #284603 Oct. 23, 1886 in IN.
